Places to visit in the Var

Fréjus and Saint-Raphael beaches are the nearest to our campsite. They are easy to reach by car or by bus (one bus per hour in July and August). Different types of activities on offer : windsurfing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, parasailing, beach volley-ball or just bathing and basking in the sun.

If you prefer a quieter atmosphere , you will be fascinated by the red rock coves and inlets of Boulouris offering fabulous landscapes which inspired numerous painters or writers. You can also discover the typical provencal landscape with, lavender , perched villages and gentle folk playing pétanque. Some 20 km from Fréjus are the medieval villages such as Fayence, Callas , Bagnols-en-Forêt and Grasse, the capital perfume of the world. Roaming the region further North in the Haut Var you will find hill -topping villages leading to the Verdon gorges, (Europe’s version of the Grand Canyon ) and Sainte Croix Lake.

Nearer the coast you can go on a hike in “Le massif de l’Esterel”,or “La Corniche des Maures”, natural sites with a grandiose panorama of the landscape, right next to the sea. If you like sailing, you can reach the “Lerins” isles or the “Porquerolles” isles, typical southern islands with translucent turquoise waters and white sand beaches.

Among the different sites or villages that may be visited near Fréjus, here are the “must sees” : the famous village of Saint Tropez, “les terrasses” de Gassin and futher East ,Cannes, Antibes with its old town and its port full of incredible yachts and close to the Italian frontier, Monaco.
